Growing up in Washington and California, Peter II was never far from the cutting edge in food, wine and environmentally sound frontiers.

“I got my passion for food and wine from my Dad,” he says. “I’ve always looked up to him and learned as much as I could from him.”

In the Huwiler household, wine is food, and Peter II came to understand that first-hand as he got older. He worked with acclaimed Chefs Kaspar Donnier and Ludger Szamania in Seattle and later for key wine distributors in Southern California and Washington State.

Working in the wine industry at the same time as his father, Peter II was able to glean far more than most. “Dad’s got great business savvy and working on our own brand together is the best of all worlds,” he adds.

With three young children, Peter II is truly dedicated to sustainability and is committed to using green practices. “It’s important to me to keep our land, vineyards and winery healthy for many, many generations to come.”

Peter II focuses primarily on sales and public relations, hosting wine dinners, working with chefs on food and wine pairing.

Peter Huwiler Thinks:

A fair restaurant corkage fee is:

Purchase one bottle off the list, waive the fee. Otherwise $15 is fair to me.

A tell-tale sign of a wine snob is:

Someone who does not like to do blind tastings.

The wine region I most want to visit:

Mendoza or Barossa

My "wish list" of wines I want to acquire soon:

Too many to list

My biggest wine pet peeve:

People who show up to a party without wine......

My favorite wine quote:

Making good wine is a skill, fine wine an art.
-R.M.

My dream wine to one day taste or own:

Chateau Lafite

The best wines I have ever tasted:

2004 JP Belle Terrior Syrah, without considering Napa Station

The people with whom I most often enjoy wine:

Family and friends

The last wine I had that I absolutely loved:

2001 Seghesio Cortina Zinfandel

What I think of the movie Sideways:

I really have to be in the mood for a movie like this. I fell asleep the first time I tried to watch it.

My thoughts on the 100 point rating scale made famous by Robert Parker and emulated by seemingly everyone:

Sometimes I like it and sometimes I don't. I think it creates too many "Paper Palates" and I think it doesn't matter what others think. It matters if you like what you are drinking.

My wine travels have taken me to the following wine regions:

Washington, Oregon, California, Michigan, Bordeaux
